March Into Art Winners

The Youth March into Art Show for 2005 presented by River Region Art Association and Parish of Ascension Recreation & Culture featured 123 entires showing the artistic talent  of the youth in this area.  Judges Robin Toller and Marcia Eisworth  exclaimed the decisons were challenging due to the quality of  creative work. We were most appreciative of the judges who took time to write a comment for each artpiece.  Particiapting ribbons were awarded to each child for their creative efforts.  Thanks to Wendy Hazey for coordinating the event.  Assisting were Donna Braud, Jan Hebert, & Barbara Ponds. This was the biggest March into Art Show we have ever had. 

The SteamBoat Tour Visitors voted for the Best of Show by People's Choice and they selected Kal Gunasingha, age 13 for his intriguiing drawing of "Girl".

Cats, Hats, & Baseball Bats!

And the Winners Are............

One may find some strange cats, colorful chapeaus, and a really unique style baseball bat at the River Region Art Gallery special theme exhibit “Cats, Hats, and Baseball Bats!” on display now until May 1. This community exhibit was presented by PARC and RRAA to encourage creativity and it did the job!

The multi medium show representing all age groups was judged by Patti McGehee , Ponchatoula. The winners are as listed:

Red Hot Art

The RED HOT ART Show was open to the community to express their creativity with RED HOT  COLOR!  WIth over 90 vibrant artwork entries, the winners of the RED HOT ART SHOW were chosen by People's Choice Votes from the steamboat tourist visitors throughout the month of June and by the Chamber Members at the Red Hot event.

2nd place: "Apples" by Barbara Louque of Lutcher; 

3rd place: "In the Beginning" by J.Summers Perkins of Gonzales.

Seasons & Seasonings of the South Winners

River Region Art Association and PARC announce the winners of the Community theme exhibit “Seasons & Seasonings of the South”. First place: “Tomato Season” by Joan Tuminello; Second Place: “Willie Bite” by Linda Hogg; Third Place: “The Cook’s Table” by Lynda Galloway; Honorable Mention: “Bayou Country” by Roger Gaudet; Honorable Mention: “Pick a Peck of Peppers” by Tasha Kelly.

Thanks to all who participated. Due to storm problems the “Still Life” exhibit has been canceled. The next exhibit will be the annual “Awesome Art in Autumn Gardens” to be held at Houmas House on Oct 15 & 16. . This judged competition involves over $1400 in prize money.
