Artists Show Their Faces Several Artists showed their faces for the challenge of “Let’s Face It!”, the Community Theme Art Exhibit for July at River Region Art Gallery in Gonzales. Judging was artist, Teddi Ruiz, of Baton Rouge and the winners are:

Gary Noel for “In His Image” , an intriguing portrait in acrylics. 2nd place, Doris Cowan for “Virgin Faces” a kaleidoscope watercolor. 3rd place, Jessie Bourgoyne with “Harry Potter” in watercolor. Honorable Mention : Louise Hansen for “Samantha at Rosedown” and Mary Crochet for “Rose Angel”

Halloween Art Harvest Day River Region Art Association and Parish of Ascension Recreation & Culture (PARC) presented a Halloween Art Harvest Day at the RRAA Gonzales Gallery on Sat, Oct 28. There were Halloween themed games scattered around the grounds with art centers for designing and painting unique creations. Winners of the Pumpkin Decorating Contest were : 1st Greatest Pumpkin...Spencer Smith age 11 of Dutchtown Middle School; 2nd Greater Pumpkin...Madeline Bush, age 10 of Parkview Elementary; 3rd Great Pumpkin...Emily Bush, age 4 of Parkview Elementary. Funniest Costumes were: Gabrielle Lott age 5 of Lake Elementary; Caleb Bush, age 9 of Parkview Elementary; and Sarah Borycki, age 12 of Lake Middle School. Most Creative Costume: Emily Bush, age 4 of Parkview Elementary; Savannah Lott, age 9, of Lake ELementary, and Ethan Smith, age 10 of Duplessis Primary. This program was organized by the volunteer artists of River Region Art Association with a goal to bring community, children and culture all together. The Halloween Art Harvest was held in conjunction with 2006 Make A Difference Day, a national day of volunteering celebrated every October.

River Region Art Gallery announces the winners of the November Community Theme Exhibit titled “Fruit, Flowers, and a Few Nuts”. Most entries were flowers with a few fruits mixed in here and there.
