“Jeanie” Liehe

Painter (Oils, Acrylic, Watercolor)

Jean Liehe grew up in New Orleans and has lived in many other states since then. She always found the time throughout the years for a painting or portrait drawing class which had been an interest since childhood.

Working as a volunteer with RRAA since the first year of the gallery operation was a major inspiration to work harder with art. Being a part of an artist community was most encouraging.

Jean has worked in charcoal, watercolor, acrylics and oils. The focus presently is portrait art in oils with a strong interest in creating beautiful color and mass in a style that is realistic but loosely painted.

Delighting viewers with art that appeals to their feelings through color and/or subject matter is important to her. Jean believes that art is a spiritual connection for her to God... that His hand guides hers. She says, "Sometimes I look at my painting and am mystified as to how I was able to capture a particular feature and could not explain to you how I did it. It’s a beautiful experience when that happens".

Her work has been honored with ribbons at several local art shows over the last few years. She also accepts commissions.
