Louise Hansen

Louise Hansen studied art at the University of Southern Mississippi and pursued a career incommercial art. Beginning as a graphic artist for Mississippi Engraving Company, she movedon as a fashion illustrator for Rubensteins in Shreveport and McRae’s in Jackson, Mississippiand later as Advertising Manager for Gayfers in Jackson Mississippi.

She moved to Baton Rouge in 1984 and with the exception of some freelancing, retiredfrom commercial work.Although Louise always had done pen & ink drawings, she later began studying watercoloras a media that she had always wanted to try and has taken workshops under such notableartists as Judi Morris, Pat Weaver, and Kathy Stone.

Louise has been awarded many ribbons for her watercolors as well as her pen and Inks. In2007 she had two watercolors juried into the Louisiana Watercolor Society’s Fall MembersShow, and a watercolor juried into the River Roads Show. Her paintings are exhibited andcollected in the United States and Canada.

She is currently a member of the River Region Art Association, Louisiana Watercolor Society,Southern Watercolor Society, and Louisiana Art and Artist’s Guild.
