Michael Bianchetti

Michael Bianchetti is a self-taught photographer who began taking pictures as a hobby in 1979.  His first camera was a Canon AE-1.  Over the years, his eye for

photography has developed tremendously.  Mike became more serious about his art in 2006, and he periodically helps teach a photography course to amateur

photographers.  His photographic interests embrace many different genres.  His work includes portraits, landscapes, wildlife, macro, and a special interest in

night photography.  Mike recently took up woodworking as a new artistic hobby.  He makes beautiful frames for his photographs and his wife’s oil paintings.

He also builds furniture from antique cypress.

Mike grew up in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan.   Lakes, streams, and waterfalls surround his hometown of Munising.  He earned a BS in

Chemical Engineering in 1978 from Michigan Technological University.  He continued his education at Warwick University, UK where he graduated from the

Manufacturing Professional Program in 2002.  Mike is employed at Syngenta Crop Protection and has lived in Louisiana for 30 years.

His photographs will be on display the month of August at Houmas House every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at the Art Center in Gonzales on Thursdays

and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Also check out his work which is featured on the website, www.artgumbo.org
