Sylvia Rochester

Sylvia Rochester

Landscapes in Oils

A life-long resident of Baton Rouge, Sylvia currently resides at Bayou Corne. Blessed with two sons and seven grandsons, she is surrounded by love and revels in their elixir of youth.  The artist is a graduate of L.S.U. with a B.S. in the College of Arts and Science with a concentration in Fine Arts and English.

Always anxious to learn new techniques and further refine her skills, she has studied through workshops and classes under numerous well-known artists such as Naomi Brotherton, Joan Salvant, Henry Casselli, John Reed Campbell, Bela Bodo, Connie Coogan, Becky Knolls and Gayle Rivere.  Realism is the essence of her paintings, and she constantly strives to detail on canvas what nature so generously offers.

When not painting, Sylvia turns her creative talents to writing.  A member of the national and local chapters of Romance Writers of America, Sylvia is actively pursuing publication of her completed manuscripts –- a time travel set in the Civil War and a romantic suspense involving drug smuggling in the bayous.  While serving as past president of the Baton Rouge Genealogical & Historical Society, she co-authored Introducing Genealogy Into the Curriculum and self-published Rochester Descendants in America, Vols. I & II.

Sylvia is also a member of the national and local chapters of Romance Writers of America. The Sweet Smell of Death, a romantic suspense set in the bayous of Louisiana, is available for sale. When Evil Loves is scheduled for release in December, 2007, and Come Back My Love in February, 2008.  Another manuscript, Shadow of the Soul, is currently under consideration.  For excerpts and a direct link to order her books, visit her website at www.sylviarochester.com.  While there, please visit her entire on-line gallery and be sure to check out the video/trailer on The Sweet Smell of Death. The News page will keep abreast on what's happening with the Author and Artist, along with the latest photographs.
