Scarecrows Swamp the Gardens Art Competition September 18 …Entry fee and Application due Oct 2 & Oct 3 …Scarecrows installed at Houmas House Oct 10 at 3:30 Prizes will be awarded at Awesome Art Fest
This new and unique Art Competition involves both Youth and Adults as well as Businesses in creating three dimensional life sized Scarecrows dressed elaborately using artistic imagination! Individuals or groups such as Scouts, Cheerleaders, Church groups, Civic Groups, Schools, Teams, etc. may enter. Businesses may also enter to advertise their service to the community via the Scarecrows.

October 9 & 10, 2010 Awesome Art In Autumn Gardens Arts & Cultural Festival Awesome Art in Autumn Gardens Festival is a lively gathering of Louisiana artisans, musicians, and dancers sprinkled throughout the 34 acre grounds of the historical Houmas House Mansion surrounded with lush greenery, flowers, fountains and lagoons. This is the biggest Art event of the year in Ascension Parish which includes an exhibit of over 300 artworks in competition for the famed blue ribbons, over 175 demonstrating artists & entertainers, and a pathway through the gardens filled with Arts & Crafts & Book signing booths all along the way. It is a lovely experience of Fine Art, Folk Art, Literary Art, & Performing ARTS intertwined with history and nature. Restaurant on site. Guided mansion tours available. December 5, 2010 Deck The Halls This is a celebration of the Holiday Season with an Open House and the Halls have been Decked with all Original ART. “Make ART a Part of your Christmas!” Artisans decorate the tree with all hand made creative Louisiana ornaments. Music will help set the festive mood. Put on your party clothes and join the artists for a Holiday feast at The River Region Art Center in Gonzales.
